History of The Gathering Place
|
The land was donated by one of the founding members of the Royal Neighbors of America club, the ladies held craft and bake sales to raise the funds to build the grange hall. In 1938 the building became a reality. ![]() In 1950 a well was dug and the grange hall finally had running water, this was a real luxury, which also included the installation of the bathroom. 60 years of gathering came to a close as the original members of the Royal Neighbors of America aged and could not take care of the building. Vacant and unused for several years they sold the building in 2004 donating their proceeds to Keizer area charities. Within a year the garange hall was for sale again. ![]() 2006 A new beginning...needing many repairs and renovations the grange hall had new owners and the work began. Dry rot repair and siding replacement, fresh paint inside and out, remodeled kitchen, new gas furnace, refinished vintage double hung windows, refinished original fir floors, installation of 9' service bar, redefined parking area paver walkway and a new sign the hall opened for business June 30th 2007. 2007 The work began outside with the addition of a new front door and a fountain to welcome guests in. In the spring the new yard was planted, paver patio and a winding path were added and a 12x12 pergola in the garden area make this a beautiful private setting for any special event. |
